What Haircolor Products Does Redken Offer? Permanent haircolor uses dye molecules that interact with your hair's natural pigment to create a final haircolor. Permanent color won't rinse or wash out. Because permanent haircolor formulations actually enter the hair shaft, it is important to use a conditioning color system such as Redken Color Fusion or Color Gels. Demi-permanent haircolor, such as Redken's Shades EQ, can enrich natural color, refresh faded haircolor or tone highlighted hair. Demi-permanent haircolor will not lighten hair. It adds exceptional color, shine and condition to natural or color-treated hair without altering the natural pigment. Lightening (also called bleaching or decolorizing) is the process of lightening the hair. It can be used to create just a few highlights, lighten selected sections of the hair, or be applied to the whole head. Whether you want to illuminate just a few strands, or go from brunette to blonde, lightening requires expertise and the right products, such as Redken's collection of superior conditioning lighteners. |

2010 New Year Color
As highlights slowly fade away with the summer, in comes a debut of New Year colors and this season’s runway colors and fashion give the perfect excuse to wear hair more naturally, healthy and shiny; it is the ideal time to give your hair a break from excessive coloring and highlighting. Heading more towards your natural level with an ash or muted hue (very complimentary colors to the season that I find myself using more and more while approaching winter) will balance those new cool grey, black, beige, dark reddish purple colors, combinations of red, yellow and green and then the also muted hues of color seen in this New Year season. A few warm highlights will contrast elegantly and create nice dimension to complement your overall new year style... matching your hair with the new season’s fashion trends: like the military trend -with it’s growing popularity or even the more toned down versions just implementing the same basic colors: natural beige and green hues… Not to forget other trends: wide belts, oversized sweaters, cropped blazers, over the knee boots, increase in fur pieces with outfits, leather-like leggings (and leggings all together – which are tending to get much more edgier), leather jackets, lace tops and lace strapless dresses. Opting for the ash and muted hues in your hair color will mesh with all these fashion trends, much like the runway girls’. Tone-on-tone coloring, gloss and clear glazes are other options for your hair color to keep with these trends, adding visual effect to make a good impression. Always remember that your hair is your best accessory. Hair color can change your overall appearance and add dimension. Try mixing colors and adding some ON-TREND accessories and make-up to accentuate this overall effect.
Love for Color
| A Few Words from an Insider: |
Like painters in art represent ideas, beliefs and manifest emotions; we colorists use chemical colors to express personality, outline a hair style, define the lines and shapes, decrease or accentuate facial features, contrast skin tones, bring out eye color and accentuate a person's lifestyle. Hair color can change somebody’s character, mood, confidence and also has recognizable psychological effects. Hair color can communicate shapes by putting side-by-side colors of different intensity.
To master hair color a colorist has to understand chromatics, the perception of color by the human eye and brain, the hair composition, texture and pigmentation. The reason why we, colorists, should understand all of these things is because of the nature of color. After all, color is the reflection of light. As bizarre as it sounds, colorists play with light, manipulating the way it reflects. Without light, there would be no color.
